Features and Benefits

Additional 5GHz radio capacity: Useful when planning for substantial activity on this commonly used band.
Radio-condition visibility: Analysis tools help administrators investigate interference and select suitable settings.
Multigigabit uplink: Provides more wired capacity than a Gigabit connection.
Central administration: Coordinate multiple APs and maintain consistent wireless settings.

For 10GbE backhaul, compare the internal U7 Pro XGS. For a 6-stream alternative, explore the U7 Pro.

How to Set It Up

Estimate active demand. Consider applications and concurrent usage rather than only the number of registered devices.
Plan AP locations. Position units to serve occupied areas with limited obstruction.
Check PoE+ power. Allow sufficient total switch budget for all connected equipment.
Connect the uplink. Use tested cabling and a suitable 2.5GbE port where available.
Mount and adopt the AP.
Update firmware and management software.
Configure SSIDs, security, and VLANs. Match settings across the AP, switch, and gateway.
Review radio conditions. Use available tools to guide channel planning.
Test during representative usage. Check calls, roaming, and application responsiveness with multiple clients.
Save the working configuration.

Advantages

8 spatial streams.
4 × 4 5GHz radio.
Spectrum-analysis capability.
PoE+ and centralized management.

Disadvantages

Uplink is limited to 2.5GbE.
Higher power demand than smaller APs.
Requires careful channel and capacity planning.

FAQs

Does a 4 × 4 AP make a 2 × 2 laptop a 4-stream client?
No. The laptop remains limited by its own radio.

Does spectrum analysis guarantee interference-free Wi-Fi?
No. It provides information for better planning and troubleshooting.

Why is the AP connected at Gigabit?
Check the upstream port, cabling, and negotiated link speed.
